Kristi’s Story
My life used to be like unsweetened chocolate. From the outside it looks good, but once you taste it you realize something is missing. I grew up attending church and church camps and that is where I first started to learn about God. During high school I focused on getting good grades, pleasing people, and dance. These three things provided me security and some happiness, but I still could feel something was missing.
When I entered college I went to this thing called Campus Crusade for Christ. I saw all these people with this passion for God, and I wanted it. I knew it was what I was missing in my life, but I didn’t know how to get it. I went to Crusade’s fall retreat, and it was there where I learned clearly what it means to have a relationship with God. I grew up going to church and church camp, but it wasn’t until then when I understood that Christianity is all about having a relationship with Christ. I knew that was what I was missing. That weekend I prayed a prayer I had many times before, but this time I meant it. I asked God to forgive me of my sin and asked Him to be at the center of my life.
After that my life completely changed. I wake up and am excited for what the Lord has in store for me everyday. My life hasn’t been perfect since I began my relationship with Christ, but I remember to keep my eyes on Jesus and he will help me get through whatever challenges lay in my path. My life is no longer like unsweetened chocolate, I found the missing ingredient and my life will be forever changed.
